Constitution Day

Warsaw
Warsaw

I did alot of sightseeing today since I would be heading to Zdunska Wola and this would be the only day I would have to see Warsaw. I was going to go to one of the stores to buy some shampoo since I was completely out. Found out that everything was pretty much closed because it is a holiday in Poland. Constitution Day …. Still never did find out exactly what the holiday was about and why people were celebrating it.

Decided to do some sightseeing in the city since nothing was open today. I walked down to Royal Castle which has a tall pillar in the center of the square. It was a statue of King Sigismund III Vasa. Then I walked down to Ujazdowski Park. It was about 4:00 – 4:30 when I headed back to the hostel for awhile before heading back out around 7:00 with Marissa (from England) who was also staying at the hostel. We walked towards Royal Castle to see if anything was going on because of the holiday. We ran into a two person band. They were playing some songs in english since the guys were polish. They sang ‘Who Shot the Sheriff and some song by the Eagles.

Then we headed to Royal Castle. This is where we heard an orchestra performing. Then, we headed into the Old Town where some guy was playing on the trumpet. There was also a tramp who took his coat off and only had his underpants on and he was dancing to the music. Took  a photo of Old Town and then we headed back towards the hostel. We stopped at St. Anne’s Church before we headed to the hostel since it was on the way. Made it back to the hostel by 10:30 pm since lock out starts at 11:00 pm. Didn’t want to get locked out of the hostel for the night so glad we made it back in time.
