Exploring Kyleakin

I got up early and decided to explore Kyleakin and what there is of the village. It’s a very beautiful place but a bit too quiet for my taste. I decided I would try and make it to Castle Moil. I got as far as the path to the marshy and wet dirt before it started pouring down rain. It looked like it was hailing, too. As soon as I headed back up the path towards town then it stopped raining. A sign, I don’t know. The weather here is unpredictable.

Then I decided to head into Kyleakin Youth Hostel which isn’t the hostel where I have been staying. I stopped in here since they had tables and chairs and I thought I could read for a bit. I was fine until some woman came in and asked if I needed anything. I said no thanks and she said if I wasn’t staying there I would have to leave. How rude! I wouldn’t have had a problem leaving if it wasn’t raining and extremely cold outside. I finally headed to my room about 3:00 pm to take a nap and listen to some music since there wasn’t anything else to do. About 5:30 pm, another Haggis group showed up. My new roommates were from New Jersey and New York (Nadine and Rachel). They invited me downstairs for a drink but I declined. I stayed up for a bit longer planning my itinerary for the rest of the trip. Even with planning, I still made changes along the way ……
