Long Day on Ferry; Going into Athens

Heading into Athens, Greece
Heading into Athens, Greece

Being on the ferry for fifteen hours was a pain since I didn’t get much sleep. I ended up using four airline type seats to try and use as my bed. It didn’t work since I couldn’t move the arm chair on the seats so I could stretch out. I was so glad to get off the ferry when we finally landed in Patras at 10:00 am. Before we got off the ferry, I headed up top so I could see Greece for the first time. I wasn’t sure what to expect ….

As soon as we got off the ferry, it started to rain. By the time we crossed the street, it had stopped raining. I am hoping it stays this way with no rain while I am in Greece. Then, Renata and I stopped by a bank so we could exchange our money for Greek drachma before heading to the train station. We arrived at the train station at 11:15 am and realized we gained an hour so I set my watch for 12:15 pm. We checked to see when the next train would be leaving for Athens since we would be staying there overnight before heading to the islands. Found out the next train would be at 2:00 pm. The train finally showed up at 2:45 pm. Took the train hoping we would get off at the right stop since the signs were posted in Greek. Finally arrived in Athens shortly after 8:00 pm.

As soon as we got off the train, we were handed a brochure from this guy for some hotel within walking distance. We were going to go there until we realized the Athens International Youth Hostel was nearby so we ended up going there instead. We are planning to stay one night and then head to the islands tomorrow. I think I ended up going to sleep around 10:00 pm because I was so tired of all the travelling I have done over the last couple of days to get to Greece.
