Rafting Down the River in Cesky Krumlov

I didn’t do much of anything until 2:00 pm. I did manage to mail all of my postcards out to my family and friends that I had bought when I was in Prague. As I was heading back to the hostel, Carrie stopped me and asked if I wanted to get something to eat. We found this internet cafe and I got a toasted cheese sandwich.

Carrie told me we would be going rafting about 2:00 pm.

After lunch, I headed back to the hostel where Chris wanted to see if I wanted to walk downtown and see some more of the village. We headed back to the hostel at 1:00. Waited around until we got ready to leave for rafting. Ended up being six of us going — Nate, Vicki, Chris, Dale (Colorado), Carrie and myself. We walked down to the rental place to get the raft and they gave us a small bottle of rum for the trip. I guess they figured if we drink some while rafting, we might row better. LOL. You would never get a bottle of rum in Yosemite to take with you when you went rafting.

We didn’t have to wear lifejackets on this trip. Left about 2:30 and the guy from the rental place said he would pick us up about 6:30 when we got to the end. I wish I could describe the scenery along the route we took. It is so hard to describe in words. It was surreal rafting down the river in the czech republic. I couldn’t believe I was actually here doing this.

The place was beautiful. Trees everywhere on both sides of the river. We even saw a log cabin out in the middle of nowhere. It was peaceful floating down the river with no one in sight. We were the only ones out on the water today. We even hit a few rapids on the way. It was so cool and so wet since I was sitting in the front of the boat. Made it to the end at 6:00 and waited around for the van to pick us up and take us back into town.

Then we headed to one of the restaurants for dinner. I had the pork stuffed with ham and cheese. Oh and of course a beer to go with my meal. Headed back to the hostel for awhile before heading into the village when it was dark so we could see the place lit up at night. I had someone take a photo of all of us — Chris, Simon, Carrie, Vicki, Dale, Nate and myself so I can remember everyone.

We walked towards the castle and square. It’s so beautiful at night. I don’t know what time we all headed back to the hostel. After getting back to the hostel, we hung out and talked until 2:00 am. One thing that Chris said that I wish I could have changed some on the trip was ‘Kim, you don’t talk much, do you?’ I guess I don’t talk much especially in big groups because I get nervous and my shyness creeps in and takes over. But this trip has helped me a lot with that problem because I took this trip by myself and knew I would need to overcome my shyness in order to meet people and get to know people I met while on my travels.

Somehow we got on the subject of our ages. Carrie is 23, Nate is 24 and Chris is 26. Chris was so surprised when I told him I was 32. All night, he kept saying, ‘You’re 32.’ All through the trip, I have met so many people who were surprised when I told them how old I was. I guess because I look like I am in my mid 20’s. Also Nate was saying that I was hammered last night, how sweet. LOL.
