The Ruins of Pompeii

In Pompeii
In Pompeii

Got up about 8:00 am and headed into Pompeii with Renata and Ye. Took the 10:07 am train that would take us into Pompeii. Couldn’t wait to see the ruins of the city. The ticket to get into Pompeii and a few other sites cost 16,000 lire. I walked around the city and saw where these people used to live. Walking along the streets where they used to walk was so surreal. Took a couple of photos of some of the people who were killed by the fallen ash when Mount Vesuvius erupted and covered the entire city in ash. Heard that the bodies had disentegrated but had left an outline of the body where a mold had been made of the outline to show the person’s expressions as they were dying.

Then, we had lunch while we were still in Pompeii then afterwards we had to find our way to an exit. Pompeii is like a maze. I am surprised we were able to find our way out of the place. Headed to another site that had a villa which we wandered through. Afterwards, we headed back to Sorrento where we stopped off at the Primevera and had a gelati ice cream. Wandered through town some more before the procession started at 8:00 pm. Everyone in the procession were dressed in black. Headed back to the camp and drank some wine before going to sleep.
